At least 18 Maoists killed in encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: At least 18 Maoists have been killed and three security personnel injured in an ongoing encounter in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
According to Kanker SP IK Elesela, the encounter is taking place in the forest region surrounding the Chhotebethiya police station.
The gunfight occurred around 2 pm in Hapatola forest between Binagunda and Koronar villages, within the jurisdiction of Chhotebethiya police station, while a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the state’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) was conducting an anti-Naxal operation, a senior police official said.
“As per preliminary information, at least eight Naxalites were gunned down in the encounter. A huge cache of weapons was recovered from the spot,” he informed.
