NEW DELHI: The 16 Indian crew members still on board an Israel-linked cargo ship seized by Iran are safe and will be released once their contractual obligations are accomplished, MEA on Thursday said.
“One girl who was there has returned. We had asked for consular access for the rest and we received that… our officers met them. Their health is good and there is no problem of any kind on the ship,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.
This comes as Iranian envoy to India, Iraj Elahi, said the Indians nationals had not been detained and were free to go.
Meanwhile, India has raised with Iran the mention of Kashmir in an Iran-Pakistan joint statement issued after Prez Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Islamabad.
The statement said that both sides highlighted the need to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue and peaceful means “based on the will of the people of that region, and in accordance with international law”.
