MUMBAI: Former UGC chairman & educationist DP Singh, was appointed as chancellor of Tata Institute of Social Sciences on Saturday by the ministry of education.
Singh has served as the VC of three varsities, including the Banaras Hindu University, and has headed NAAC as director in the past. He will be serving on the post for five years from the day he assumes charge.
The appointment comes at a time when TISS is mired in controversy over the suspension of a research scholar.Singh told TOI that his focus will be on improving the quality of education in the institute.
