NEW DELHI: Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from his post as city president of the grand old party on Sunday, citing the alliance with AAP as his reason.
He submitted his resignation letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
“In the Delhi Congress Unit, there was opposition to an alliance with a party that was formed on the sole basis of leveling false, fabricated, and malafide corruption charges against the Congress Party.Despite this, the party made a decision to ally with the AAP in Delhi,” Lovely wrote in his letter to Kharge.
He was appointed as the chief of the Congress Delhi unit last year, replacing Anil Chaudhary.
Lovely had joined the BJP in 2017 but returned to the Congress fold just months after quitting the grand old party.
