SRH fan’s ‘silencer’ birthday post for Pat Cummins brings back painful memories of World Cup final loss | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: An Indian fan’s unique birthday message for Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s skipper Pat Cummins on Wednesday won hearts on the internet during the side’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Uppal Stadium.
Showing creativity with a pinch of tease, the fan’s message became an instant hit on social media.
As one of the most respected sportspersons in modern day cricket, Cummins celebrated his 31st birthday on Wednesday, the fan’s post — showcased on a placard — from the stands read, ‘Happy Birthday Silencer’.

The context of the post was in reference to Cummins’ remarks which he made before beating India in the ODI World Cup final last year.
Cummins had said, ‘nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent’.
In one such instance during the World Cup final, Cummins dismissed Virat Kohli and brought the Ahmedabad crowd to a pin drop silence.
“He is a outstanding guy, and the poster is just awsmm!” a social media user commented on the poster.
“Haha, it’s really cool, no doubt! Yeah, it’s pretty awesome, no doubt about it!” another user wrote.
“Silence creator by captancy and bowling,” wrote another user.
In the recent past, Cummins-led Australia had defeated India in two ICC finals — ICC WTC Final and ODI World Cup Final.
In the December auction last year, SRH shed a whopping Rs 20.5 crores to buy the services of Cummins.
