Plane with 78 passengers aboard skids off airport runway in Senegal, 11 injured – Times of India

NEW DELHI: A plane carrying 78 passengers skidded off the runway at Senegal’s main airport on Tuesday, injuring 11 individuals and prompting a halt in operations at the facility.
Blaise Diagne airport reported that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, which took place around 0100 GMT as a Boeing 737-300, chartered by Air Senegal and owned by Transair, was preparing for takeoff to Mali.
A night-time video circulating on social media depicted the aircraft, bearing the logo of Senegal-based airline Transair, situated in grass with one wing covered in fire-suppressing foam.
The airport activated emergency protocols to evacuate passengers. “For now, the airport is closed… The reopening is expected within the next few hours,” stated the airport.
