“We are thrilled to introduce this stunning addition to the MBPD recruitment team — courtesy of Braman Motors,” said the department in a post on X.
The luxury car has been loaned to the department by Braman Motors, a luxury car dealership, in an effort to attract potential law enforcement recruits.
Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones, during a promotional event in South Beach on Thursday, acknowledged the challenges of recruiting police officers in the current scenario and expressed optimism about the car’s potential to help recruitment.
“Recruiting police officers in this country today is a difficult thing to do. Using this car to help us do recruitment is gonna be great,” said Jones.
Meanwhile, some individuals raised concerns about the source of funding for the customized 2012 Rolls-Royce Ghost, but the department said that the vehicle comes at no cost to taxpayers.
The Miami Herald reported that the car is on loan from the dealership and will be returned in the future. Braman Motors, owned by Miami billionaire Norman Braman, will cover the expenses related to gas and maintenance, with the police force only being responsible for any damage incurred while the car is in their possession. Both the department and Braman Motors have stated that the sponsorship complies with city policy.
