NEW DELHI: A catastrophic fire broke out in a six-storey building located in the Mangaf area of Kuwait‘s southern Ahmadi Governorate on Wednesday. The building housed nearly 160 workers from the same company, which included several Indians, according to local officials.
Casualties and injuries
- Death toll: The blaze claimed the lives of 41 people, with the majority being Indian nationals aged between 20 and 50 years.
- Injuries: 15 individuals were admitted to hospitals, with four succumbing to their injuries later. Among the injured, five firefighters sustained wounds during the rescue operations.
- Causes of death: Most deaths resulted from smoke inhalation while the residents were asleep.

- Indian embassy’s response: An emergency helpline (+965-65505246) was set up by the Indian Embassy in Kuwait to assist and provide updates.
