NEW DELHI: The swearing-in event in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday witnessed several viral moments as it became a star-studded affair with Telugu political stars and cine stars coming together– new minister Pawan Kalyan being the link between them. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the tallest political star at the event, Rajinikanth, his wife Latha Rajinikanth, N Balakrishna were among the heavyweights from the film industry.Actor and former minister Chiranjeevi was there to cheer for Pawan Kalyan who also took oath at the same event. And the first thing he did after the swearing in was to touch his feet seeking blessings.
Chiranjeevi’s son and leading actor Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan’s wife Konidela Lezhneva, son Akhira, brother and actor Naga Babu, Naga Babu’s daughter and actor Niharika, nephew and actor Sai Dharam Tej were also present.
As PM Modi was present, Pawan Kalyan did not miss the occasion and requested PM Modi if he could meet his brother Chiranjeevi who was seated as a guest. PM Modi was prompt in his reaction and met Chiranjeevi — posing for another viral moment from the event. As PM Modi patted the back of the two brothers, Chiranjeevi squeezed Pawan Kalyan’s cheek in affection — as Ram Charan (Chiranjeevi’s son) looked on from among the audience.

Chiranjeevi also had a long stint in politics — mostly in the Congress. In 2008, Chiranjeevi started Praja Rajyam Party in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. In 2011, Chiranjeevi merged his party with the Congress. In 2012, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha and became the state minister of the tourism department.
Pawan Kalyan’s political career, in fact, began under the wings of Chiranjeevi — as a member of the Praja Rajyam Party. In 2014, Pawan Kalyan launched his own Jana Sena Party — while Chiranjeevi took a backseat in politics.
