NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has instructed Tihar jail authorities to provide an air cooler to Sukesh Chandrasekhar on medical grounds since the centralised air conditioning system is under repair.
Alleged conman Chandrasekhar had filed a plea citing health issues caused by excessive heat stating that he developed skin problems due to high temperatures.
Chandrashekhar was arrested in October 2019 and is currently detained in Tihar Jail under accusations of involvement in a Rs 200-crore money laundering case.He is alleged to have cheated and extorted money from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Religare Enterprises promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, by posing as a government official. Chandrashekhar and his accomplices promised Singh they could secure her husband’s release from jail.
Chandrasekhar has a history of legal issues, particularly related to the misappropriation of funds at Religare Finvest Ltd. Both he and his wife, actor Leena Maria Paul, were arrested by the Delhi Police last year for their suspected roles in the scheme.
