‘My first hand-written boarding pass’: Flyer shares unique experience as Microsoft outage affects airline services | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: A domestic flyer in India shared his unique experience of receiving a hand-written boarding pass due to the global tech outage as Microsoft/Crowdstrike services went down.
“The Microsoft / CrowdStrike outage has taken down most airports in India. I got my first hand-written boarding pass today,” wrote a flyer, travelling from Hyderabad to Kolkata with Indigo.

Airlines in India reported on Friday that their systems are affected by an ongoing outage in Microsoft Azure.Flyers are advised to contact their respective airlines for flight information.
Microsoft Azure, often referred to as just Azure, is the cloud computing platform developed by Microsoft. It provides management, access, and development of applications and services to individuals, companies, and governments.
The outage has caused disruptions across the entire network for the airlines.
Microsoft said that it was investigating issues with its cloud services in the Central US region, which led to the grounding and cancellation of several flights. Low-cost carriers Frontier Airlines, Allegiant, and SunCountry experienced outages impacting their operations.
Frontier Airlines, a unit of Frontier Group Holdings, mentioned that a ‘major Microsoft technical outage’ had temporarily affected its operations.
SunCountry noted that a third-party vendor disrupted its booking and check-in facilities but did not name the company
