NEW DELHI: In a first, the Indian Premier League auction this year will be held overseas as Dubai on Friday was finalised by the BCCI as the venue for the event.
The IPL auction will be held on December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in the desert city, according to a media report.
In a communication to all the 10 franchises, the BCCI also informed that the deadline for the release of the list of retained players has also been extended to November 26.The earlier date to submit the list of retained players was November 15.
Rs 100 crore each has also been decided as the salary cap for the 10 franchises.

The upcoming season will mark the third and final year of the three-year contract for the players. The mega auction is scheduled to take place next year.
The BCCI had considered hosting last year’s auction in Istanbul but had withdrawn the plan.
The IPL on Friday also announced that West Indian Romario Shepherd, who was with Lucknow Super Giants in the 2023 edition, has been traded to Mumbai Indians for the next season.
