After announcing his decision to retire from T20Is following India’s T20 World Cup triumph earlier this year in June, Rohit Sharma‘s captaincy role in white-ball cricket is now limited to 50-over internationals, with his next assignment being the three-match ODI series on the tour of Sri Lanka.
The skipper continues to be the centre of attraction wherever he has travelled following the T20 World Cup victory.Be it his family vacation in the US or the upcoming ODI leg of India’s tour of Sri Lanka, fans have been showering their love on Rohit and almost mobbing him for selfies and autographs. One such incident in Sri Lanka was caught on camera by a fan and made its way to the social media.
The video clip shows a padded-up Rohit walking down the stairs from the dressing room at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo for a net session. Watching Rohit come out, a fan in the stand next to the pavilion started singing to catch Rohit’s attention.
While the audio is not clear to understand what the fan is singing, the words included ‘Rohit Sharma’, which made the Indian captain pause and look over his shoulder at the fan. It was followed by a smile as Rohit continued walking towards the nets.

Rohit and Kohli, both of who decided to quit T20 internationals after winning the T20 World Cup together in Barbados on June 29, have returned from a well-deserved break to join the Indian squad that is now coached by Gautam Gambhir.
Gambhir was appointed the head coach after Rahul Dravid’s tenure in the role ended with the T20 World Cup.
The first ODI of the series in Sri Lanka will be played on Friday in Colombo, followed by matches on July 4 and July 7 at the same venue.
India won the T20I series 3-0 under the captaincy of Surakumar Yadav.
