Amid disqualification heartbreak, Vinesh Phogat’s first pic from Games village clinic surfaces | – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Hiding the pain and agony of disqualification behind a smile, Vinesh Phogat‘s first picture from the Paris Olympics village clinic surfaced on social media on Tuesday.
With IOA president PT Usha by her bedside, Vinesh was seen with her hair cut short and an IV drip on her hand.
Vinesh was earlier admitted to the Games Village polyclinic due to dehydration, following a major setback of disqualification from the women’s 50kg wrestling final event at the Paris Olympics.

The dehydration occurred after Vinesh took drastic measures to stay within the prescribed weight limit for her gold medal bout.
PT Usha provided an update on Vinesh Phogat’s health following her disqualification, saying that the grappler is physically and medically fine.

Cutting her hair was among the measures taken by Vinesh (no food and small amount of water) to get back to her prescribed weight limit.
However, Vinesh was found to be 100 grams over her 50kg weight category, and hence, she was disqualified.
