NIRF Ranking 2024: Uttar Pradesh
In the 2024 NIRF Rankings, Uttar Pradesh has shown notable improvement from the previous year, with several of its institutions climbing the ranks. For instance, Aligarh Muslim University, which was ranked 19th overall in 2023, has moved up to 16th place this year. Across several categories—Overall, Engineering, Management, Medical, and Research—multiple institutions and universities from UP were ranked in NIRF 2024.
In the Overall category, three institutions ranked within the top 20: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur at number 5, Banaras Hindu University at number 11, and Aligarh Muslim University at number 16.
In the Engineering category, two institutes ranked within the top 10: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur at number 4 and Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) at number 10.
In the Management category, a single institute ranked within the top 10: Indian Institute of Management Lucknow at number 7.
In the Medical category, three institutions ranked within the top 20, with two in the top 10: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences at number 6, Banaras Hindu University at number 7, and King George’s Medical University at number 19.
In the Research category, three institutions ranked within the top 20: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur at number 7, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research at number 11, and Banaras Hindu University at number 16.
NIRF Ranking 2024: Madhya Pradesh
In the 2024 NIRF rankings, Madhya Pradesh’s performance doesn’t seem to be very impressive. Despite having several universities, only a limited number have achieved positions in the top 20 across various categories, for example Indian Institute of Technology Indore got rank 16 in the Engineering category, while in the overall, it was ranked at number 33 . Here is a look at how the state’s institutions have ranked within the top 20 across different categories this year.
Across several categories—Overall, Engineering, Management, Medical, and Research—Madhya Pradesh had only two institutes in the rankings: Indian Institute of Technology Indore, which was ranked number 16 in the Engineering category, and Indian Institute of Management Indore, which was ranked number 8 in the Management category. There were no other institutes or universities from Madhya Pradesh within the top 20 rank holders in these categories.
Some of the notable MP institutions featured in various categories below the rank of 20 include the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal, ranked 31st in the Medical category; the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, ranked 78th overall; and Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, ranked 72nd in the Engineering category, among others.
NIRF Ranking 2024: Bihar
Surprisingly, Bihar did not have any institution or university within the top 20 list of any NIRF category. However, the state had two institutions in the top 100: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna at number 73 and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna at number 99.
